Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS)
GOTS is the worldwide leading standard for identifying and defining the requirements that dictate the organic status of textiles. A textile product carrying the ‘organic’ GOTS label must contain a minimum of 95% certified organic fibers.
GOTS not only stipulates the composition of organic fibers but also dictates mandatory criteria around the processing, manufacturing, packaging, labeling, trading and distribution of all organic textiles. Farms and manufacturing facilities are inspected by independent third-party GOTS accredited certification bodies to ensure the monitoring system remains credible.
Obtaining GOTS certification is not an easy feat and shouldn’t be considered lightly.
